The True meaning of Art

We presume that since we are in a new age, we are more advanced than our predecessors ....how so, when many of us still have not grasped the concept of what a "blank canvas" signifies?
How many times have you been to an art gallery only to find a group of people staring at a blank canvas or a dot engulfed in a grey green wave with a tin of tuna standing next to it...well I guess less so of the latter..with a guide trying to interprit the meaning of this painting...why are we trying to interpret these stupidly obvious strokes of paint when the artist themselves was probably just wiping surplus paint off their paintbrush? My 5 year old cousin could probably do the same thing and a better job at that! do we have nothing better to do with our time?
Our ancestors were using their time efficiently and working, discovering, inventing...while we take it all for granted. We think we know everything and then continue to stare blankly at a white canvas!
Oh well...what can we do about this?...absolutely nothing!
So, what's the point in pointing out the stupidity of our society..no point really except to point and laugh hysterically( excuse the frequent use of the word "point")
so..I'd like to conclude with a little saying which I believe to be rich in wisdom,
"When drinking water, remember the source"
next time I promise it will be a slightly less pesimistic blog!
